really good operating system for the newbies that wants to try linux for the first time. it's an ubuntu based os with kde plasma desktop environment that gives the windows taskbar and desktop vibes. as this is ubuntu, the package manager is an apt, which has in the mirrors most of the programs outdated a little in sake of the stability. it also comes with the built in snap store, with more updated software than on apt, i heard lots of bad things about snaps, like slow launching and bloat, but i dont mind it as long as anything works.
a nice another ubuntu like operating system, i tried it with the xfce desktop environment edition. when i tried it, it had disabled snaps by default and some ghaphical interface package manager, also it has apt. the operating system is lightweight and nice for newbies too. in my experience i had only problem with breaking brightness and f keys that broke whole desktop redirecting me to tty console after trying to fix it, i think its now fixed through these few months, so i maybe try it again in the future.
a debian based operating system, it comes with some preinstalled tools and apt package manager. i used it for some week or so, and i liked the experience.
that was my first operating system that i tried, because of the "most updated packages" reason. it's supposed to be based on arch linux, it has its own graphical package manager pamac. on one side i liked it because that was the most lightweight distro experience, but on the other side, when i installed wireshark... oh my gosh, so many google connections, i did not know if this is the telemetry or something, but this is the reason why i stopped using it.
another arch based operating system, with graphical installation interface. this is my current os that i use and i'm happy with. it comes with pacman/yay package managers, it mostly does not need snaps nor flatpaks because it has most of the packages available from the package manager, the packages are always up to date, and system updates often released. it's mostly bare bones, so f.e. i had to install by myself the additional drivers to make windows executable game on wine work correctly. its currently my favorite distro that i am staying with on my laptop.
